“What would it be like if we had unbroken trust across healthcare? If patients had trust in what we do and if we had faith in what our patients are doing, how amazing would that be? I think that it would save us a lot of frustration, it would save patients a lot of frustration, and we would get things done. But that’s a perfect and ideal scenario and we can only strive for that. It's probably never gonna happen, but we strive to make it as much of a reality as we can.” - Austin Chiang, MD MPHWelcome back to another episode of Discover More. This week, we continue our conversation with Dr. Austin Chiang.Austin (@austinchiangmd) is the Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and serves as the Director of the Endoscopic Weight Loss Program and Chief Medical Social Media Officer for the Jefferson Health System. In last week’s episode, Austin shared about his journey into medicine, as well as his mission of using social media to dispel misinformation and educate the public on the complexities of the healthcare system. This was released last week as episode 62, and we recommend you start there before listening to part 2 of the interview this week.In this week’s episode, we dive into some of the challenges that Austin faces as a content creator, including imposter and comparison syndrome, and he shares how he navigates these issues through gratitude and recovery.Additionally, Austin explains the three most important qualities he looks for in advanced fellowship, potential hires, and future teammates. We also discuss the relationship between trust and respect in the healthcare system, as well as the importance of gut health. We hope you enjoy this week’s episode of Discover More, with us and Dr. Austin Chiang.Show notes:Austin Chiang’s website: http://www.austinchiang.com/Austin Chiang’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/austinchiangmd/Austin Chiang’s Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/AustinChiangMD/featuredAHSM, Healthcare Social Media: https://www.instagram.com/ahsm_org/“Start With Why” by Simon Sinek: https://www.amazon.com/Start-Why-Leaders-Inspire-Everyone/dp/1591846447Yes Theory Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/YesTheory/videos

“Over time I think we’ve seen a shift of putting ourselves more into our social media presence rather than just simply being a professional on social media spewing facts. I think my motivation is because there’s so much distrust in our healthcare system and health professionals, we’ve seen that play out with the pandemic, and I think it’s important to show that we are human beings too. We have personalities, struggles, interests, and the same questions that everyone else has. We might have a different perspective because we have more context and we are able to interpret the signs more readily. That’s why it is important to put the two together, so that way people could relate and we can empathize with one another.” - Austin Chiang, MD MPHWelcome back to another episode of Discover More. This week’s guest is Dr. Austin Chiang (@austinchiangmd), an esteemed physician in interventional and weight loss endoscopy. Austin is one of the few doctors in the world that’s triple-board certified in internal medicine, GI, and obesity medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree at Duke University and went on to complete his medical and MPH trainings at Columbia University and Harvard Medical School. You can find his press coverages on outlets such as New York Times, Men’s Health, BBC news, and more.Austin uses the power of social media and comedy to not only educate the public with an evidence-based approach, but also in attempt to break down the multitude barriers of misinformation. To further impact his social media presence, he founded the Association for Healthcare Social Media, the first non-profit society for health professional social media use.Currently, Dr. Chiang is the Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, PA, and serves as the Director of the Endoscopic Weight Loss Program and Chief Medical Social Media Officer for the Jefferson health system. In this episode, Austin shares his mission of using social media to dispel misinformation and educate the public on the complexities of the healthcare system.Unlike many doctors, Austin didn’t always know that he wanted to study medicine. He always kept an open mind, studying a wide variety of subjects in college and now, evaluating opportunities in seemingly unrelated fields. He credits this open-mindedness for much of his success and that is a big topic of this week’s conversation. We also discuss the importance of sharing one’s voice on social media, the necessity of acknowledging nuance, and his initial perspectives around the COVID vaccination. We hope you enjoy this week’s episode of Discover More, with us and Dr. Austin Chiang. Show notes:Austin Chiang’s website: http://www.austinchiang.com/Austin Chiang’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/austinchiangmd/Austin Chiang’s Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/AustinChiangMD/featuredCheck out the documentary “Trust” | Uploaded by Taiwan’s CDC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Obtht6e_d0&ab_channel=%E8%A1%9B%E7%94%9F%E7%A6%8F%E5%88%A9%E9%83%A8%E7%96%BE%E7%97%85%E7%AE%A1%E5%88%B6%E7%BD%B2

"That's why the ability to reframe your perspective matters so much. I think reality = perception + perspective because your perception is shaped by your experiences, but your perspective is what you take away from your perception  and how you apply that. People always say 'information is power', or 'knowledge is power', but I think 'appliance is power'. When you have too much information, too much going on, you're going to get distracted and that's when paralysis by analysis, or decision-making fatigue, happens. So it's all about what you can apply from that experience." - Benoit Kim Welcome back to another episode of Discover More.Co-hosts Aidan & Benoit sit down together to reflect on the last 10 months of life.In the first “Reflective Episode,” Benoit shares the story of his recent near-death car accident, while Aidan unpacks the story of getting scammed out of $18,000.We discuss the mindsets we used to navigate these challenges, as well as the lessons they taught us about life.We also dive into a wide range of topics including the relationship between subjective & practical truth, the importance of building positive neural pathways, the benefits of asking for help, and the necessity of open-mindedness in today’s culture. We’d really appreciate it if you could leave us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts, as it really helps the podcast grow, and share this episode with 3 people that you think could benefit from this episode. We hope you enjoy this special episode of Discover More with us. Show notes:Benoit Kim's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/benoitkim/Aidan Weinmann's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aidanjames24/

“Yeah, challenges suck, and life will come at you hard, and fast…. But if you are able to, in at least some corner of your mind, remember that actually, this hard time will help you grow. If you take on challenges as growth opportunities, that is one of the key pieces that I’ve seen in resilient people. If you can change your mindset to understanding that, I think your life will change within months. Almost within weeks… if you start looking at challenges as an opportunity, either to find a solution or to grow.” - Jess CadoretteWelcome back to another episode of Discover More. This week, we continue our conversation with Jess Cadorette.Jess (@jesscadorette) is an environmental advocate who currently serves as the Field Director for the Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, the statewide political voice for the environment.Last week, we discussed the environmental issues that we face as a society, as well as the ways that we can begin to make a difference through advocacy and sustainability. She also shared about her personal journey into environmentalism, so we recommend starting there as an introduction for this episode. This week, Jess courageously reflects on her experience with Crohn’s Disease and shares the many important lessons it taught her about life and health. We discuss the importance of caring for not only our physical and mental health but also our spiritual health. This leads to a conversation around “engaged Buddhism”, mindfulness, self-advocacy, and making the most of every moment. To close the episode, in honor of Woman’s History Month, Jess delivers some powerful advice for women in their early 20’s looking to make a difference in this world. We hope you enjoy this episode of Discover More, with us and Jess Cadorette. Show notes:Jess’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jesscadorette/Jess’s LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jesscadorette/Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania: https://www.conservationpa.org/about/staffThe 5 Mindfulness Trainings: https://plumvillage.org/mindfulness-practice/the-5-mindfulness-trainings/Thich Nhat Hanh: https://plumvillage.org/about/thich-nhat-hanh/GirlGov: https://wgfpa.org/our-work/girlgov/

"And of course we’re going to affect ecosystems, but there will not be an ecosystem untouched by human action. Unfortunately, we’re warming the planet, and, yes, of course, the climate has changed before, but we are doing it at such a rate that no species on earth will be able to adapt. The planet has certainly changed, but over the course of thousands of years, giving species time to adapt and adjust their mechanisms, the processes they need to stay alive.” - Jess CadoretteWelcome back to another episode of Discover More. This week’s guest is Jess Cadorette.Jess (@jesscadorette) is an environmental advocate who currently serves as the Field Director for the Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, the statewide political voice for the environment. In 2020, she helped turn the tides of the national election by managing one of the largest electoral campaigns an environmental organization has ever run. "For those of you listening, my TedX talk, the theme of it is this concept that created called the courage equation. The courage equation is courage = belief > fear. So I believe that in order to have courage, all we need is to raise our self-belief to a level that is greater than our fear. Once we do that, we will act. We will have the courage to take action. We will have the courage to put ourselves out there. To be vulnerable. To create the life that we want." - Jaclyn DiGregorio This week, we continue our conversation with Jaclyn DiGregorio.Jaclyn (@jaclyndigregorio) is a best-selling author, motivational speaker, podcast host, and life coach. In part one of the interview, she shared about her personal journey and the mindset tools she uses with her clients. This was released last week as episode 58, and we recommend you start there before listening to part two of the interview this week.In this week’s episode, we discuss concepts around identity, such as how our identities are created and how they are transformed. She also shares about the power of affirmations, the importance of an empowering money mindset, and the equation she crated for courage. In 2020, she gave a TEDx talk about her courage equation, and we highly recommend checking it out.We hope you enjoy this episode of Discover More, with us and Jaclyn DiGregorio.  Show Notes:Jaclyn's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jaclyndigregorio/Jaclyn's website: https://www.jaclyndigregorio.com/Spark Your Light podcast: https://www.jaclyndigregorio.com/podcast

"What I didn't understand when I was living in it, is that the pain was really serving me. I always see failure, in general, as either a lesson or a redirection. And through all my experiences it's so clear. Like 'Oh that was the lesson I needed to learn because it's preparing me for this goal' or 'Wow I was redirected because I wasn't meant to do that.' So I think pain is  a really beautiful thing." - Jaclyn DiGregorioIn celebration of March’s Woman’s History Month, we’ve decided to interview inspirational women from the community. This week’s guest is Jaclyn DiGregorio.Jaclyn (@jaclyndigregorio) is a best-selling author, motivational speaker, podcast host, and life coach. In 2020, she gave a TEDx talk about building courage, and she comes with a wealth of knowledge around all things mindset and inspiration. In this week’s episode, Jaclyn explains how she has created her dream life at age 25, and how she helps her clients do the same. She shares several powerful mindset tools, including - how to set effective goals, how to work through limiting beliefs, and ultimately, how to switch possibility to inevitability. We also discuss the story behind her brand, “Spark Your Light,” as well as her inspiring personal journey in entrepreneurship. We hope you enjoy this episode of Discover More, with us and Jaclyn DiGregorio.  Show Notes:Jaclyn's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jaclyndigregorio/Jaclyn's website: https://www.jaclyndigregorio.com/Spark Your Light podcast: https://www.jaclyndigregorio.com/podcast
